How to Install the Driver on Windows 2000
  If you already have the POSUSB driver installed:
    - Make sure the scanner is plugged in.
    - Click the Start button, select Settings, and click the Control Panel icon.
    - Double click on the System icon.
    - Click the Hardware tab.
    - Click the Device Manager button.
    - Click the plus box next to USB Point-Of-Sale Devices
    - Right click on Serial Interface for POS Device and choose uninstall.
    - Click OK in the Confirm Device Removal box.
    - When prompted to restart the computer click No.
    - Double click on Metrologic USB converter.
    - Click the Driver tab.
    - Click the Update Driver button.
    - Click Next in the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard.
    - Select Search for a suitable driver for my device and click Next.
    - Check Specify a location, uncheck all other options and click Next.
    - Enter the location where you unzipped the driver or choose browse to find 
      the folder where you unzipped the new driver.
    - Check Install one of the other drivers and click Next.
    - Select the driver where the Provider field is Metrologic Instruments, 
      click Next.
    - When the driver is done installing, click Finish.
    - Close the property window by clicking the Close button.
    - When prompted to restart the computer click Yes.  Before you click yes, 
      make sure you have saved data in open programs.

  If you do not have the POSUSB driver installed:
    - Plug the scanner into an open USB port.
    - The Add New Hardware wizard will appear, click Next.
    - Select Search for a suitable driver for my device, click Next.
    - Check Specify a location and uncheck all other options, click Next.
    - Type in the location or click browse to find the folder where you 
      unzipped the new driver, click OK
    - After the driver is found for this device click Next.
    - Once the driver is done installing, click Finish.

  If you are upgrading from a previous version of the Metrologic USB driver
    - Plug the scanner into an open USB port.
    - Click the Start button, select Settings, and click the Control Panel icon.
    - Double click on the System icon.
    - Click the Hardware tab.
    - Click the Device Manager button.
    - Click the plus box next to Ports (COM & LPT)
    - Right click on the entry for the scanner and choose properties.
    - Click the Driver tab.
    - Click the Update Driver button.
    - Click Next in the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard.
    - Select Search for a suitable driver for my device and click Next.
    - Check Specify a location, uncheck all other options and click Next.
    - Enter the location where you unzipped the driver or choose browse to find 
      the folder where you unzipped the new driver.
    - After the new driver is found for this device click Next.

How to Install the Driver on Windows XP
  If you already have the POSUSB driver installed:
    - Make sure the scanner is plugged in.
    - Click the Start button, and click the Control Panel icon.
    - Click the Performance and Maintenance icon.
    - Click on the System icon.
    - Click the Hardware tab.
    - Click the Device Manager button.
    - Click the plus box next to USB Point-Of-Sale Devices
    - Right click on Serial Interface for POS Device and choose uninstall.
    - When prompted to restart the computer click No.
    - Double click on Metrologic USB converter.
    - Click the Driver tab.
    - Click the Update Driver button.
    - Select Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
    - Select Search for the best driver in these locations.
    - Uncheck Search removable media.
    - Check Include this location in the search.
    - Type in the location or click browse to find the folder where you 
      unzipped the new driver, click OK
    - When you receive a message saying the driver is not signed, click 
      Continue Anyway.
    - Click the Finish button in the Hardware Update Wizard.
    - When prompted, restart the computer.

  If you do not have the POSUSB driver installed:
    - Plug the scanner into an open USB port.
    - The Found New Hardware Wizard will appear.  Select Install from a list
      or specific location and click Next.
    - Uncheck Search removable media.
    - Check Include this location in the search.
    - Type in the location or click browse to find the folder where you 
      unzipped the new driver, click OK
    - When you receive a message saying the driver is not signed, click 
      Continue Anyway.
    - Click the Finish button once the wizard has completed installing the drivers.

  If you are upgrading from a previous version of the Metrologic USB driver
    - Make sure the scanner is plugged in.
    - Click the Start button, and click the Control Panel icon.
    - Click the Performance and Maintenance icon.
    - Click on the System icon.
    - Click the Hardware tab.
    - Click the Device Manager button.

Testing the Driver
Windows 2000/XP
  - Open the device manager by clicking the Start button, choose Settings, and 
    click the Control Panel icon.
  - Double click on the System icon.
  - Click the Hardware tab.
  - Click the Device Manager button.
  - Click the plus box next to Ports (COM & LPT)
  - The scanner should be listed along with a COM port number.
  - Use a terminal window program (HyperTerminal, Metroset Terminal window) to
    open the COM port.
  - Any scanned data should appear in the terminal window.
